WATER HYDRATION BLADDER & Homemade Camelbak Dryer
Picked up one of these for $8 bucks was just waiting to find one for $10 bucks or less these things sure have come down in price now…

“This is an easy and quick project for people who have camelbaks but don’t have the special hanger. This hanger is made out of a plastic coat hanger with smoothed edges.”
Another tip is to use denture cleaning tablets to freshen the insides of the bladder to get rid of the plastic taste or to get rid of the bleach taste after giving it a bleach cleaning. Or you can use the denture tablets for a general light cleaning to keep the bladder fresh.
Another tip if you are not going to use your water bladder for extended lengths after you have cleaned it or if it is still clean put it in the freezer this will keep any nasties from growing in the water bladder…

HOW DO I CLEAN WATER HYDRATION BLADDER?
Use hot, soapy water and rinse thoroughly with hot water. For tough cleaning jobs, add 1/4 cup of baking soda to 3/4 cup of water (double for Platypus 2) and shake for 30 seconds. Add 1/4 cup lemon juice, shake 10 seconds, and vent by loosening cap away from face. Repeat shaking and venting three times. Expel as much air as possible, cap bottle, and allow to soak 20 minutes. Rinse three times with hot water. Caution: When adding lemon juice to baking soda, effervescence occurs and will cause pressure to build in a capped Platypus.
HOW DO I BOIL WATER HYDRATION BLADDER?
Lay Platypus in a pot and keep mostly covered with water. Make sure that the Platypus is not resting on the bottom or sides of the pot. Also, do not cover the pot when boiling. Watch your Platypus for pressure building up in the bottle if water inside is boiling. Do not microwave your Platypus.
HOW DO I FREEZE MY WATER HYDRATION BLADDER?
Lay half-full Platypus on its side in freezer.
MY BITE VALVE COMES OFF TOO EASILY. WHAT SHOULD I DO?
The best way to maintain a snug fit between the Bite Valve and the drinking tube is to first remove the Bite Valve from the drinking tube. Second, cut a small section off the end of the drinking tube. Lick the end of the drinking tube and replace the Bite Valve back on the end of the drinking tube. After it dries, there should be a good friction fit.
HOW DO I PREVENT THE WATER IN MY DRINKING TUBE AND BITE VALVE FROM FREEZING IN COLD WEATHER?
Sip often to maintain flow, or do not leave residual water in the drinking tube in between drinks. Also, keep as much of the drinking tube covered as possible or inside a pack or jacket.
HELPFUL LEAKPROOF HINTS:
To avoid leakage at the elbow valve fitting of your Platypus and drinking tube system, make sure the valve is lined up with the spout and the cap is fastened as tightly as possible to the bottle/reservoir. Make sure the push-pull cap is snapped closed completely in order to avoid unexpected leakage.
