So many people have it now its scary! but you have to wonder if they will ever really find the cure as its such a big money funded industry now...

Just got back from my Diabetic Appointment (Type 2,Everything stable) They want to sent me to the local vascular unit to check my feet out

I Have 6 months worth of Meds (Tablets) put by and rotate monthly
To learn how to find, one must first learn how to hide

OK..You, you, and you ... Panic. The rest of you, come with me.

It is one of those diseases that they will never have a cure for. You can only control it. If you can't get it under control, you will need meds and most likely insulin at some time.
Type 1 people use insulin all the time.

Dibetes does damage to all organs and is the leading cause of blindness. ::hb

I noticed also that the book mostly tells you to stay away from sugar-containing foods.
It is all about the carbohydrates when watching what you eat when you are on a diabetic diet.

Limit your "white foods" potatoes, white bread, crackers, rice, and just about anything else that is white. These food may not say they have much sugar in them, but they are high in carbohydrates and carbohydrates turn to glucose in your body.

My diet allows me to have 75 carbs per meal, (3 meals) and I can have a snack in the evening of 15 carbs.

Before I kind of fell off this diet, I had lost 40 lbs. in about 35 days, and my glucose readings were excellent.

Also a lot of people don't know how much of something they can eat.
A piece of cake or cornbread is a 2 inch square. NO larger. LOL
Piece of red meat is the size of a deck of playing cards. ::hb
Skinless chicken is good for you and you can eat more of it.

Some food you can load up on without limiting yourself, such as vegetables. If you find something that has 5 grams or more of fiber in it, you subtract the grams of fiber from your total carbs, which will allow a little more food to be eaten.
The only exception is Peas and Corn, which are naturally high in glucose already.

I have a very good diabetic Doctor that I see.

I think having a good Doctor is the key HB for anything I went through several Doctors till I found one I felt I could trust and would actually listen and help and give me options all previous doctors would just give me a pill and send you out the door with no explanation ....

I'm also taking Crestor (Rosuvastatin) for my cholesterol.

It is the only cholesterol medicine that my body can handle.
All the others either raise the liver function blood test levels too high, or cause me pain in my arms and legs.

It really work great for me, my cholesterol is a nice low level at this time.

High cholesterol is a NO NO for diabetics.

It's my biggest fear in a survival situation,my daughter (16) is type 1,and were only allowed 30 days of meds and assec. at a time per insurance regs.If SHTF I guess I'd turn into a thief, robber, looter what ever it took to ensure she got what she needed.
The more you know, the less you have to carry.
