What and when will it be?

I have been discussing this with many many people throughout the years. Most have never thought about it. I'd really like to hear some of your views on 2012 or at anytime the bottom drops out. What will the main event be? War, pandemic, natural terrestrial disaster, solar flares, etc........

I think top of the list is world economy crash only thing that will stop it is run away inflation to recover from it at least for the US with all the trillions it keeps printing and giving away....
Pandemic is up their on the list just never know they could control it or it just gets out of hand its a toss up they did a good at keeping SARS under control I consider my self at ground zero with a large major airport very close by...
WAR depends WWIII or many countries going down in civil war....
Solar flare would make life hard for a while no idea if it could be large enough to kill life if it did I assume it would only effect half the planet so would depend if you were on the wrong side or not at that point...
Asteroid are another possibility it has wiped out life on the planet a few times in the past but again depends on the size of the bugger....

Hope nothing happens and we just keep plugging along and fix the problems as we go although that will be tough until people wake up and enough call for change it can be done it has been done and its just a matter of doing it....

I agree with all of those scenarios. The thing that is most troublesome to me, and what i am most afraid of is when and if any of these scenarios happen ( just a matter of time) is the chaos that will ensue one week after. Stupid people in packs! Trying to take whats not theres because they were not prepared. Then comes the military policing it's own citizens. I used to live in Atlanta and the C.D.C was 12 miles from my house. I have always questioned the logic of putting the most deadly place on the planet within 50 miles of the busiest airport in the world.

yes thats why the retreat for me is far from everything sheople will have a long ways to go till they get to me and they will be weeded out long before they have a chance to get close and as far as military goes I do think they will be to busy policing the cities to bother with going out in the country were populations are very low but well armed and then it depends on if they will be friendly or not as to how things go for them and us....

Absolutely! Started searching for a place a couple of weeks ago. Both short term and long haul. We've been looking at buying a small farm or homestead about 5 acres. It's a buyers market. I think the key is knowing how to read the signs and bugging out at least 2 weeks prior.

Yes that figuring out when to get out will be about keeping informed I am hoping things will start to happen in the US first or back east giving me time to bug out hopefully before everyone else gets the same idea I dont think their will be a 2 weeks heads up more like a couple days at best....

Quite correct you are sir. Can you image walmart or Canadian tire if the general public finds out the day before. We thought black Friday in the states or boxing day here gets crazy. Gives me the chills

Nice to meet you. If your in the Appalachians I'm sure you have quite a few retreats mapped out. Are there lots of caves in that stretch of the mountains?

I plan on bugging in, but I have all the old railroads routes mapped out and several "deep in the woods" locations in mind if we have to leave the home.

There are many many caves in WV. but only a few in this area, the ones in this area are used by hunters and pill heads to party in, so they won't be of any use since everybody and their brother knows where they are. LOL

Thing I like about being here, you can actually just walk into the woods and disappear.

Yes I miss those mountains! All the caves in Chattanooga are commercialized. But the woods are just as good harder for them to box you in

I wasn't able to put it down. It started my love affair with reading. It came out when regan and Gorbachev were doing the whole finger on the button cold war thing. Must have inspired the author

I just moved down from Canada to WV. I loved it up in Canada (Algonquin Park area) and had quite a nice set up. Hunting, fishing, medicinal herbs, no electric, phone.....did a lot of survival type of stuff. Now I'm starting all over again but have next to no land. I think the timing is awful but didn't have a choice.

My head tells me war with Iran will start the downward spiral but there is something in the back of my mind that keeps saying natural disaster. A natural disaster flies in the face of man's arrogance and I just have the feeling that humanity needs to be humbled. Other things, we think we can do something about, nature hollers out our limitations.

I for one think it is the ultimate exercise in pride & arrogence for Man to think HE can have that drastic an effect on the earth to start with...
When you take the time we have been on top O the food chaim here compared to the age of this planet, we have been kicking rocks for about 10 seconds.
The earth can take all we do and more and still survive, we might not though...
